In all due honesty, she isn't a master of dual wielding. On her right hand is a katana, but on her left hand is a naginata. Naginata is normally wielded with two hands, considering it's a polearm. Polearms are never wielded with one on each hand. It's mainly because the weight is unbalanced throughout the weapon as it is mainly focused on the head of the weapon. I would suggest this: a katana on the right hand and a wakizashi (a shorter katana) on the left hand. That's the usual pair for dual wielders in Feudal Japan. Even Miyamoto Musashi, the creator of Niten-ryu and author of the Book of the Five Rings, wielded a katana and a wakizashi combo. This is just me being picky on historical martial arts and weapon usage because it makes me cringe on seeing the inaccuracy of artists displaying historical-esque kind of art.

I know she's a Miko I think, and I know they fight and used the naginata but you are displaying it inaccurately in this picture.

Overall, nice presentation of the work. Really makes me interested in this story, if it does come.

The primary users of naginata in-setting are Phoenix, and they use two hands. *nods* A few Dragon use a katana and wakizashi at once, like the real Miyamoto, and many Mantis use double sai or kama, but not polearms.

It's a good picture, but that is something of a glaring error, yes.

Ah, thanks for informing me about the setting and lore of the series.

Yes it's a nice presentational picture, for others other than artists from certain art schools. And yes, it is a cringing error. So historically inaccurate.

Actually technically I'm not sure it isn't accurate either, since the way she is holding the katana makes me believe it must not have a good balance at all : if she wants to use it one-hand, she should hold it more in the middle of the grip. And also, considering the orientation of the blade, her hand is not holding it right. It is also being picky, but with the blade in that position, her wrist should not have that angle.
... And also (pickiness overload), if she was a real master she should hold her weapon as if she didn't held anything : here, her grip looks way too strong.

My 2 cents !

Ah, never knew that. I learned another thing about historical weaponry. Thanks.

she has a pretty face and i feel like that doesn't really fit with a monk of the spider clan. in my mind she should have a more furious or stern expression. what do you think?
